(March 2, 1997 ~ November 15, 2009)

On Sept. 17th, 2009, Lucky's neck suddenly swelled up and three days later she was diagnosed with high-stage lymphoma.  She began taking Prednisone, a corticosteroid, immediately.  The medicine was very effective for the first five weeks.  She felt so good and even her arthritis symptoms were significantly diminished.  She had about five and a half weeks of high quality life.  Lucky enjoyed food as much as she could.  After that period of time, she gradually lost her appetite.  In the last two weeks of her life, Lucky totally refused to eat her own food.  We cooked special dishes for her every day and kept changing from chicken to turkey to dumplings and from pork to lamb.  Finally, these dishes were no longer attractive to her.  We switched to seafood, such as shrimp, salmon, scallop and crab meat.  That only lasted for two days.  On Saturday, Nov. 14th, the day before her last day, she ate only two things: one of her favorite treats, dried chicken breast strips, and Breyer's coffee ice cream.  On Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, Lucky suddenly collapsed and we took her to Fox Valley Animal Referral Center.  She passed away peacefully there around 3:25 pm.

Dear Lucky, thank you for everything you have done for us in the past twelve years, eight months, and thirteen days.   We will love and remember you forever!
